- The Hidden Worlds of Art, Literacy and STEAM Education:
Bridgette proved her digital mastery with her acclaimed, massive Alice in Wonderland monument Move One Place On in Houston's Evelyn's Park. 2018, her 2026 book, Alice and the Hidden 150, details how she hid 150 riddles and literacy surprises directly into the 10-foot bronze Mad Hatter's tea party table. As she likes to say:
“I have kept the 150 a secret until now. I wanted to promote curiosity and literacy. I also help promote STEAM Education. In my story, Alice gets big and small not with mushrooms and elixirs, but with technology.” - Sculpting Cultural Icons:
Bridgette’s studio is famous for producing massive, awe-inspiring public icons. Her portfolio includes the legendary Grambling State Tiger, the ferocious Prairie View A&M Panther, and the monumental Booker T. Washington sculpture, as well as many memorials to deceased loved ones. - Putting One Foot in Front of the Other:
Bridgette Mongeon's memoir, One Foot in Front of the Other: Art, Hiking, and Healing, reveals her extraordinary resilience—overcoming a foundry collapse, a family house fire, and a diagnosis of terminal lung disease likely caused by her art. She transformed adversity into action, founding the 20,000-member Houston Women’s Hiking community and continuing her mission to honor real women through sculpture. Notable commissions after her diagnosis include Eve, the matriarch of matriarchs; Norma Zenteno, the beloved Latin musician; and Penny Marshall, celebrated for her role with the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. With fewer than 8% of bronze sculptures in the U.S. depicting real women, Bridgette is determined to change that percentage- one woman at a time. - The Next Great Mission:
Bridgette is currently collaborating with a national committee to fund and sculpt two life-sized bronze monuments honoring Grandma Gatewood—the trailblazing woman who escaped abuse and, at 67, became the first woman to solo-hike the Appalachian Trail in 1954. Inspired by Gatewood’s legacy and her own journey of healing in nature, Bridgette’s work celebrates resilience and the call to get outdoors. One monument will be placed at Gatewood’s cemetery in Ohio, while the other will stand at mile 31 on Mountain Crossing near the Appalachian Trail in Georgia—ensuring her story inspires generations to come. The story of being diagnosed with lung disease, given two years to live and finding hope on the trails and through a group of women. Bridgette never expected to develope a movement that would turn into over 20,000 women in Houston healing through the outdoors and save her life.
